After having built and equipped a new burn care unit in Arba Minch, the Swedish Burn Care Foundation is now starting what is perhaps the most important part of the work that we do: educate.
Burn care training is carried out in cooperation with the Arba Minch General Hospital, Bule Hora General Hospital, the Norwegian Children’s Burn & Wound Care Foundation (CBWCF), Interburns, Uppsala University Hospital and the Uppsala University.
Under the direction of burn trauma surgeon Dr Desta Galcha, the training program in specialized burn care has begun for the 6 nurses staffing the new burn care unit in Arba Minch.
The training is both practical and theoretical, and is coordinated by CBWCF. Parts of the theoretical training are based on the outstanding program “Essential Burn Care” provided by Interburns.
